How to read Food Labels ?

Do you read the Nutrition Facts food labels when you shop? Since 1994, the FDA has required these labels to be placed on most food packaging. The Nutrition Facts food labels are easy to find on the back, side or bottom of the packaging.

The black and white Nutrition Facts labels may be formatted vertically or horizontally (the vertical version is more common). Small packages may have an abbreviated version of the label.

For example, this is a food label like one that you would see on a can of condensed chicken noodle soup. It looks like a lot of information to understand all at once, so let's look at the Nutrition Facts food label one section at a time.

Food poisoning

food poisoning is caused by consuming food contaminated with pathogenic bacteria, toxins, viruses, prions or parasites.

Such contamination usually arises from improper handling, preparation or storage of food.

Food borne illness can also be caused by adding pesticides or medicines to food, or consuming or by accidentally consuming naturally poisonous substances like poisonous mushrooms or reef fish.

Contact between food and pests, especially flies, rodents and cockroaches, is a further cause of contamination of food.

Date rape drugs - Be carefull !!

Sexual assault is any type of sexual activity that a person does not agree to.

It can include inappropriate touching, vaginal penetration, sexual intercourse, rape, and attempted rape.

Because of the effects of these drugs, victims may be physically helpless, unable to refuse sex, and can't remember what happened.

The drugs often have no color, smell, or taste and are easily added to flavored drinks without the victim's knowledge.

What is Xanax?

Rember - New treatment for Alzheimer

A new drug could prove at least twice as effective in treating Alzheimer’s disease as current medications and significantly slow the progression of dementia, researchers say.

The research team at the University of Aberdeen concluded that the drug, Rember, slows progression of the disease by up to 81 per cent.

Sufferers taking the drug three times a day for 50 weeks showed a slower decline in blood flow to the parts of the memory that are vital to the memory.

Experts hailed the study as a major development in the fight against Alzheimer’s, which affects an estimated 350,000 people in Britain and more than 26 million people worldwide.
