Too much vitamin C - Good or Bad ??

I had been taking vitamin C tablets as they seemed to prevent me getting regular colds etc. However, I've heard there has been some research, which suggests that vitamin C supplements can cause blood vessels to clog up.

I would be very interested to have your comments.

Thx...

Skin fungus

A lot of people get fungal infections, but they're usually easy to treat becuase a fungus rarely spreads below the skin.
In our place it called : A mushroom .

Heart exam , EKG and ADHD drugs

Many children and adults take medication for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD.

Stimulant drugs, like Ritalin, Adderall and Concerta, help children with ADHD stay focused and control their behavior.

The doctors are recommending now a thorough exam, including a family history and an EKG, before children are put on the drugs to make sure that they don't have any undiagnosed heart issues.

Rapping Nurses ...

Nice one...

What's wrong with having little bit of fun? I volunteer in an ER, and I'm a paramedic student.

You have to have a sense of humor to survive in emergency medicine.

It is a real ER.

It was a "teaching ER" in University of Alabama hospital at Birmingham .

My Asthma Inhaler

Recently I became very depressed when my asthma inhaler was lost.

I felt much better when I found myself not needing it for few weeks...

I heard that soon all rescue inhalers will be changed to what are known as earth-friendly rescue inhalers.

Until now, the albuterol inhaler may have used chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) to deliver the medicine into our lungs.

CFCs are safe for us , but hurt the environment.

The United States is requiring all inhalers to change to hydrofluoroalkane (HFA), an earth-friendly alternative to CFC.

This change will help make the air better for everyone.
HFA inhalers contain the same medicine and provide the same relief as your current CFC inhaler.

My Hernia Dilema

The first problem was how do I tell my mom about my hernia?

She doesn't know I have it , and it's awkward to speak to her about it ...

My doctor said that it will be an "open" surgery, that they sliced me open (near my groin), patched up the hole in my abdominal wall and sewed me belly up.

The alternative is "laparoscopic" surgery whereby they make one or two small incisions, go in with a camera on a flexible stick and patch the hole using surgical instruments.

Rabies - Beware of infected animals !

Rabies is an often fatal viral infection primarily spread by infected animals.

Rabies is spread by infected saliva that enters the body through a bite or broken skin.

The virus travels from the wound to the brain, where it causes swelling, called inflammation.

This inflammation results in the symptoms of the disease.

Most rabies deaths occur in children.

The actual time between infection and when you get sick (called the "incubation period") ranges from 10 days - 7 years.

The average incubation period is 3 - 7 weeks.

Bird flu - Beware !

The outbreak of the deadly bird flu has been confirmed in some districts of West Bengal.

It is a matter of great worry that it is the third outbreak in two years in India.

The samples from the area have confirmed the presence of H5N1 virus.

It requires immediate necessary action and precautionary measures besides restricted trade and movement of the birds.

The personnel need to be equipped with equipments like masks and gloves and other protective equipment.

There is a need to go deeply into the reasons for these frequent outbreaks.

One possible cause is insensitivity of the local governments.
Now it is suspected that many people might not have feasted on the infected birds and thus the problem would be much more difficult to handle.

Loss of precious human life should be top priority for the government besides the cullers who come directly in contact with the carcasses.

It is one of the biggest challenges in recent times!
