Tennis elbow exercise

Tennis elbow is often caused by overuse or repetitive strain caused by repeated extension (bending back) of the wrist against resistance.

This may be from activities such as tennis, badminton or squash but is also common after periods of excessive wrist use in day-to-day life.

Tennis elbow affects 1% to 3% of the population overall and as many as 50% of tennis players during their careers. Less than 5% of all tennis elbow diagnoses are related to actually playing tennis.

Tennis elbow affects men more than women. It most often affects people between the ages of 30 and 50, although people of any age can be affected.

Genetics food allergy

Allergic reactions to foods are an important medical problem throughout the industrialized world. The occurrence of food allergy appears to be strongly influenced by genetics, but the basis of the genetic predisposition to food allergy has not been differentiated from that for atopy in general.

In addition, genetic susceptibility alone does not explain the prevalence of food allergy satisfactorily, leaving ample room to consider the importance of environmental influences (external, maternal, and gastrointestinal environment) and interactions between the host and the environment.

Several features of food allergy are highlighted in this review:
1) patients with severe food allergies are overwhelmingly atopic, but food allergy occurs only in approximately 10% of patients with other atopic diseases;
2) most patients are clinically reactive to a single food, and although a substantial minority have multiple food allergies, the variety of bonefide food allergies in a given individual is limited;
3) foods contain multiple proteins whereas only a small subset are allergenic;
4) there is likely an important contribution of the environment, becoming manifest in genetically susceptible individuals.

SHIATSU (sh-äts) - in Japanese means finger pressure and is a hands-on therapy developed from the Ancient Japanese Arts of Massage originating 4,000 years ago.

Various styles of Shiatsu incorporate aspects of Japanese massage traditions, Chinese Medicine practice, and "western" anatomy & physiology.

Shiatsu is widely considered the Japanese version of Chinese acupuncture, using your fingers instead of needles.

It is the most popular and highly respected form of manual therapy in today's Japan, and has been recognized as a Traditional Oriental Therapeutic by the Japanese Ministry of Health since 1955.
